Late last week, the Michigan Department of Treasury sent this statement to the MICPA regarding issues and developments with the new e-services for state sales tax on Michigan Treasury Online (MTO) website. To keep MICPA members informed on the system enhancements, the Department has compiled an initial list of improvements that have been completed or will be completed in the near future. An updated list can also be found on the front page of Treasury’s website. Additionally, as recently reported in this e-News article, the Department is experiencing some difficulties when issuing computed Sales, Use and Withholding (SUW) assessments as a result of system changes.
In some cases, taxpayers may receive a computed assessment(s) in error due to incorrect filing frequencies or registration information. Treasury asks for your patience as they work to correct the problem. Should you have a question regarding a computed assessment you received, please contact the telephone number listed on the assessment notice
